Behind “Muah!”

Hello WORLD!! This is so cool—my first blog post ever. I’ve been wanting to restart my blog for God knows how long, and I finally have the time to do it. If you know me, a blog is very fitting for my life, so I see this as a huge passion project. I want to start off my first post by introducing myself!princess since the beginning

Hi! My name is Madison Jenkins, and I’m the creator of “Muah!” I’m a 21-year-old May baby who is obsessed with a little bit of everything. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but grew up in good ole Birmingham, Alabama. Truly a Southern Belle, but in the cool girl way. My childhood was never quiet (in the best way, of course). I have the best parents ever and three siblings; my sister and I are the middle children. We’ve added two dogs, August and Sommer, to the family, and they are MY BEST FRIENDS. For the most part, I was a quiet kid who didn’t have much to say, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown into the outgoing person you know today. I grew up going to church, and my faith is still somehing I hold on to today. Honestly, for a lot of my life—especially from middle school until now—I’ve struggled with anxiety (I’ll have a whole post on that later). I credit my faith as a big part of my anxiety battle, and it’s something I don’t take lightly. My favorite verse is Psalm 5:11; I think it really encompasses my being.

I have lived in a total of five different states, with my current destination being Houston, TX. Moving around taught me many lessons; looking back now, I’d have it no other way.

I’m living in Houston after graduating from the University of California, Riverside, with my BA in Creative Writing (it makes sense why I have a blog now!). I always get the question, “What are you even going to do with your degree?”. It’s a fair question and one I get often. Long-term, I want to be a published author. Short-term a career in marketing, editing or publishing. Living in California was definitely an experience! It’s one I’ll talk more about later, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

My favorite things include, but are not limited to: reading, writing, junk journaling, cooking, making interesting latte flavors, and—as of recently—LinkedIn. My real passion lies in writing. I went to school to further my education in it, but it’s been the one constant in my life. I write when I’m stressed. I write when I have a great idea. I write when I just have to let my emotions out. My best recommendation ever is to get a journal—it is the key to success!! I know I mentioned junk journaling which I want to make a whole blog post about, but it’s become one of my latest hobbies. My friends Riley and Nik got me interested in it and it’s something that has helped me be not so much of a perfectionist.

A few more random facts: I have four tattoos (all with fun meanings), and I want more. My favorite artist of all time is LANY, and I’m seeing them in concert in April with one of my best friends, Daniel! I’m currently writing a book, Family Woes, which deals with a variety of family issues. My favorite holiday is Nik and I’s birthday (promise I’m not egotiscal, there is a reason)! I’ve had five different jobs, but my favorite job thus far has been a Social Media Supervisor at my school. I have become more crafty lately. I can’t swim, so when I go to the beach, I’d rather have a good book.  I collect Sonny Angels and have now over 30 (not an addiction, I swear)! I don’t really get the hype about Harry Styles? I’ve been to over ten concerts. I love the gym, but running outdoors is my favorite activity. I was pretty active growing up; I played every sport and ran track and field through most of middle and high school.

Last, but most importantly: I hate mayo. I do think it is one of the worst things we as a soceity could have made. I’m not being dramtic, I could write a whole essay on why I will throw a whole sandwhich away if I discover mayo on it.

Yeah, that’s me!! I’m really excited to get started with this blog and for you to read it. I’m thinking of posting once a week, maybe every two weeks? I don’t know—I’m a busy gal—but nonetheless, I am ready to start this fun journey.

Almost forgot: I want to recommend a song and book in every post just to give you something to listen to.
