She’s got Expectations

img 7846The way I interpret life is that you can always add a surprise. Or maybe you may not intend to, but God will. I’d like to think what I am about to announce is a collective of both. I thought I would make this blog post into “Things that have happened to Madison recently that kind of make sense, but also not really, but also really interesting and cool.”

The first thing on the list would be that I got stood up for a date.

Yes, I’m back in the dating scene, but not in a typical way, and maybe this contributes to why and how I got to going on no date. It all started back in February or maybe March when my dear sweet friend Mia started dating apps for me. It started as a joke, but then quickly didn’t become one, and I found myself on FaceTime with her creating a profile for myself. Now, in the caption, people are aware that Mia is running these pages, and a lot of guys take the bait. We have one guy whose name is Julian, who took it and was interested in the idea and was excited to get to know me! Mia got his number, and they had been texting for a couple of days for him to get to know me. Then she FINALLY decided to tell me she was doing this, and I got his number. Everything was chill. We texted a lot and set plans to meet on Sunday. A couple of days prior, I reached back out to confirm and didn’t hear from him. Now why? I have no idea, but that was a significant event because it was almost comical. I am not sad or anything like that; it’s just one of those citations you take with a grain of salt.  So if you see my profile circulating on apps, I don’t have access to it; Mia does, and she is doing the hard work for me.

This is something I didn’t expect, but also something I’ve thought about before.
LAW SCHOOL.
No, I am not joking; I’m going to Law School. Well, studying for my LSAT, and then applying to law school. The reactions I’ve gotten are the following:
  1. “WHAT, I DIDN’T EXPECT THAT?”
  2. “This makes sense”
With my personality,  a lot of my friends said this makes sense.
  1. “Are you sure?”
To be fair, this was one person, but this is one response I want to harp on for a bit. People like this probably won’t last long in your life. People who can’t root for you, even if the idea seems out there, didn’t believe in you from the start.

Now you may be asking how I even came to this conclusion. Well, let me tell you, all it takes is one person to believe in you! My older brother, Ryan, had said even before I graduated from school that I should think about going to law school. I always kind of shut it down, but still had a small thought in the back of my mind. My character flaw is that I can be very stubborn sometimes. I can admit it, but something I’ve worked on. Anyways, when I went in with my major, I had a plan to get a job in publishing, but as time shifted on, I realized I wanted to explore so much more. Now  that I am officially a year post-grad, I’ve thought heavier on this. Last month, he came ot visit, and he and I went out for coffee. Of course, he brought it up again, and for some reason, this time was different. In one hour, he convinced me, Madison Jenkins, to go to law school. He even offered to pay for my prep, so why would I not even try?

I got a new tattoo too, hehe. It has meaning, I swear; it’s a star on my back shoulder, and I got it in Galveston with friends a couple of weeks ago. I also am convinced because two of my friends also got ones!! A bonding experience, if you will. I literally love the tattoo and the artist; he was so cool.I haven’t told mom yet so shusshhh, but she’s used to seeing my sticker book collection evolve, so eh.

Another thing is I got promoted to a FULL-TIME img 0039POSITION FOR MY JOB! So you are looking at the camp supervisor for Lifetime Kids Camp! It’s definitely a lot more work, but I love that. It also gives me the opportunity to work on a management level. I think the more I work, the more I realize I like being part of a team and managing one. I like to learn about people and their walks of life, and how we can use their skills to img 7882better the company. I also think this is perfect timing because, as I am saving for law school, I can put money back into saving for it! Yes, your girl also got a raise with this new position. Did I mention I literally work with the coolest people on the planet? Everyone there slays hard, and I enjoy going to work A LOT.

Trying to think of what else that’s like big.

OH HELLO! Let’s talk about Olivia Rodrigo’s album and how, more importantly, how I reacted. This is my favorite album she has put out!! My top three in this order are (as of now): “maggots for brains”, “expectations”, and “less”. OH my goodness, the lyrics to “Maggots for brains” scratched my brain so right, it’s not even a joke! The line where she likes riffs “and I got maggots for brainnuhshhh” (idk how else to describe it) is so perfect UGH. My reaction, though, I didn’t cry. Usually, when I hear an album like that, I would burst into tears. But albums that have come out recently that have been sad like that, I was also not very mentally stable often. I didn’t know how to deal with emotions, so I used to just drown my sorrows in the music. I’d like to think I am slowly healing, but when I am going through something, there is this album to back me up.

A lot of things are up now, so I’d thought I share some fun news! Thanks for listening, I love y’all down. Tell me in the comments some cool news of yours!
